A-to-Z Reflection [2015] - Lg

The month of April, went by in a Jiffy.

I started this blog taking the #AtoZChallenge, with the theme ‘Brands that people identify with’. The challenge gave me the much needed push to start my 2nd blog after Scribble and Scrawl.  I thoroughly enjoyed the mental acrobatics involved, and in the process I have zeroed in on the niche for this blog. 


Why I picked Brand Stories


Whether we realize or not, brands are an integral part of our lifestyle and they do impact us.

Much like how you relate to some people better than the others, you relate to some brands in a positive manner because they strike an emotional chord with you in one of the following ways. 

  • The brands echo the values that you appreciate and care for. 
  • You have some good memories associated with the brands.
  • The brands represent all that you aspire for. 

When we relate to something, we like to know more about it – be it a person or a brand.

Just like it is natural for us to be inclined to know about what’s going on in the lives of people who we relate well with, I believe that in the same way, many of us will be interested in hearing (well reading) the stories of the brands that we connect with, particularly when those are convincing, inspiring, and interesting.  

This belief led me to pick up the theme ‘Brands that people identify with’’.

Here I present the list of all brand stories that I wrote for the challenge. 

I selected a medley of brands. Most of them are among the Top Global brands, some of them like Coke, Kellogg’s , Pepsi have been around for more than a century, while some that are the internet age brands have quickly spread around and consolidated their position in over a decade.

  7. Its such a wonderful idea Somali..unique and interesting ! I love to read about brand story from a young age courtesy Reader’s Digest articles like “how lifesaver mints got started?” Or “How band-aid was born “…..
    I also love to know about the thought process which goes in selecting the he logo of the brand …

      I found that in this theme I can blend my professional knowledge (business and marketing strategy) with the creative aspect of story telling. I have learned a lot about highlighting the human touch points and emotional aspects by reading the wonderful posts of bloggers like you, Shweta, Maniparna, Anita, Archana, Saru, Kiran and many others.

  9. Nice directory of sorts about the leading brands from A to Z. It was full of nice to know trivia and a good read. I will hop regularly to read about all your other brand insights. Especially the one on Amul . I used to be a brand trivia junkie once upon a time when brand equity quiz used to be much sought after … you evoked some of that nostalgia in me. Thanks.
